A day after 28 people were arrested outside the Kinder Morgan tank farm in Burnaby, another antipipeline protest has taken place in Seattle.
A group calling itself the Mosquito Fleet surrounded a company tanker in the terminal in 30 kayaks.
It was reminiscent of the old Greenpeace days when zodiacs used to harass whaling vessels in the 1970s on the high seas.
The Mosquito Fleet activists said they flew a banner saying “Stop Kinder Morgan” to send a message that they’re opposed to turning the Salish Sea into “a fossil fuel superhighway”.
Matt Krogh of Stand.earth declared that this action was taken in solidarity with those who were hauled away by the Mounties yesterday north of the border.
“We will continue to support our Indigenous allies in British Columbia—and in San Francisco, where they are fighting Phillips 66’s effort to expand their refinery to receive and process Canadian tar sands,” Krogh said.Read more
